Beauty & Fuel Efficiency & Performance...Not Bad!

These 2011 & 2012 Luxury Hybrid vehicles which in my opinion and the opinions of others in the auto industry are the "Best of the Best". This is not a "top ten" but a list of the vehicles I looked at from a consumer's point of view and from someone who loves fine cars whether I get to own a particular model or not.

Take a look at these "sweet rides"and tell me what you think. I have not test driven but two and I will let you know...what I think about those two. Besides I'm not an expert test driver for any professional magazine or any company for that matter to review cars. I'm looking at the vehicle as if I was in the market for a luxury car or SUV and realized there were Hybrid models available, saw one on the street while navigating through Houston's treacherous traffic maze and said... "Humm!" Sweet looking ride". If you own one of these luxury hybrids or have test driven any, please share your info...here. Thanks!

For any formal review of any of these vehicles I would suggest you turn to auto consumer reports and/or auto industry magazines who conduct driving test reviews and overall reviews of these vehicles...I just like the way some look & drive.

I will to have some links set up shortly...until then...these are Chipsball looks and glances.

2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7

According to consumer reports and auto industry reports this vehicle is more powerful and more fuel-efficient than the BMW 750 series. fuel economy with 17 city/24 hwy mpg. Not bad. No need to belabor the nice-ness of the BMW ride...handling and the feel are typical of BMW's and even with my short trip driving this car...I was impressed...as expected.

I love this body and the silver color makes this vehicle stand OUT!. I wanted to test drive one and got a chance to do so. Couldn't let go of the steering wheel after the test drive...me like!

True Cost to Own: 120K +...so they say...Just saying!

2011 BMW ActiveHybrid X6

Kind of a coupe and kind of a SUV look in my opinion. While I was at the BMW showroom they had this vehicle available for a "look see" but I didn't get a chance to test drive one however. According to reports this vehicle has little to show for its hybrid power train and suffers from a big price tag of 100K +. Hopping inside the vehicle I found the interior comfortable and roomy...except in the rear seats where there appears to be limited head room for my riding guest whom I would be attempting to impress. However if you are a BMW SUV owner...then you know the vehicle and this Hybrid is not bad at all.

2012 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid

I'm not much of a Cadillac guy, but this is one sweet looking vehicle. The Cadillac Escalade is a head turner indeed. When I saw this big momma on the street I said she sure takes up a lot of space, but she sure looks good doing so. This is one big, powerful and impressive looking car, truck ,suv...you call it! I think it is a stylish truck with a bold look that overshadows its size. Again, according to industry reports this Cadillac Escalade hybrid is easier on fuel than the standard Escalade, with EPA-estimated of 20 mpg city, 21 mpg hwy.

It's going to cost you $....but hey! It's one real nice vehicle...SWEET!

2012 Infiniti M35h

Infinity makes claims that this vehicle has the fuel economy of a 1.8 leter economy car. With an EPA estimate of 24 mpg/city and 32 mpg/hwy the gas-electric M series is powerful and uses less gas, but some say cost is a little "steep". $ 54K+. I don't think that's too bad for a luxury hybrid. I'm not that impressed with the body style...but that's just me and my glance. Maybe a silver or black color might change my impression of its look.

Engine type: DOHC 24-valve V-6, 302 hp; 258 lb.ft; AC permanent magnet synchoronous electric motor assist, 67 hp, 199lb-ft.

Transmission: 7-speed automatic with manumatic shifting

2012 Lexus LS600h

Ahh ! Lexus wants to run with the big boys...Mercedes S Class and BMW 7 Series with this $100K+ sedan. This is a passenger conscious ride considered one of "quietest" automobiles ever built.I love the look of this car and maybe I'm partial to the color silver, but this is one good looking auto that caught my eye on the road one day. Experts say it doesn't have the power train to take on the V-12's that the big boys spit out and its mpg rating, while better than its 12-cyclinder-power-opponents, its hybrid notations aren't that significant. Lexus owners love their cars and this one as a Hybrid will fit in nicey. "Big Boys" have nothing on this vehicle and in fact they had better keep careful eye in their rear view mirror...because this car is drawing closer.

2011 Mercedes-Benz S-Series Hybrid

You can be placed blind-folded in this vehicle and know instantly that you are sitting in a Mercedes-Benz automobile. Its exquisite and roomy interior is what is to be expected. The cabin features the Mercedes-Benz dash look with leather seating to match. With special high tech add-ons like navigation, Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, heated and ventilated front seats and dual-zone climate control, just sit back and drive this beauty or enjoy the comfort if you are the passenger.

I did take this vehicle for a short test drive on the Houston streets and while I don't think it handles as well as the BMW...but that has always been my take on Mercedes-Benz v. BMW...the BMW's simply handle better...but I like this car very very much.

$ 91K+ and you are sitting in this "sweet ride"... priced as much as the BMW 7 series but less than the Lexus HybridLS

19mpg/city & 25mpg on the hwy fuel economy is rated excellent and maybe a good reason other than loyalty that this beauty must be considered one of the "best of the best"...I certainly think so.

2012 Porsche Panamera S-Hybrid

O.K. I can't wait to test drive this car. I haven't yet, but I'm setting up a appointment shortly to climb into this speed merchant. Hopefully HPD or DPS will be no where around, because I'll try and feel the "thrush" that is associated with this car. With a start-up cost at $95K+ this vehicle sports 18/27 mpg city/highway in fuel economy. According to auto industry experts the Panamera is quicker than the Mercedes-Benz but not as fast as the BMW. I don't think I will get a chance to determine that...but who knows...I do have a clean drivers record. I was always a sport car guy who likes to sit close to the ground and feel the road and this car looks just right for me. Fuel economy makes this sports "gem" a...gem of a hybrid sports car!

Chipsball's glance: me like very much...!

Don't like this color very much...how about gold lite or candy apple red?
